Porcelain Inlays & Onlays

Strong is Beautiful

There are times when damage or decay to a tooth requires more than a composite filling to restore it to health. In those instances, Dr. Liss may use a porcelain inlay or onlay.

Both inlays and onlays are made of porcelain. An inlay is a smaller restoration and is used to repair damage inside the cusp of a tooth. An onlay is a larger restoration that is placed inside the cusp of the tooth and extends over one or more sides of the tooth.

Inlays and onlays are both very conservative tooth restorations that require less drilling and tooth preparation than a metal filling. As a result, using an inlay or onlay leaves more healthy tooth structure intact.

Both inlays and onlays are tooth-colored and are undetectable in your smile. They also increase tooth strength up to 75% (as opposed to metal fillings that can reduce tooth strength by 50%!) and can last from 10 to 30 years.

Inlays and onlays restore health, strength and a natural appearance to your smile.
