Dr. Liss and his team conduct oral cancer screenings at every comprehensive exam using the VELscope. VELscope technology helps to see abnormal tissue in the mouth, before it is plainly obvious. As it passes over oral tissue, the hand-held VELscope tool uses a special blue-spectrum light to look deep within the tissue to where oral cancer and its precursors begin.
The VELscope System creates a reaction that can make unhealthy tissue easier to differentiate from healthy tissue, and it is particularly sensitive to the early signs of disease. VELscope will identify tissue changes at their earliest stage. Once abnormal tissue has been identified, Dr. Liss will determine the next appropriate next steps.
