Gum Disease Therapy in Little Falls, NJ

Healthy Gums. Healthy Smiles.

It’s common knowledge that gum disease can lead to tooth loss. But it may surprise you to learn that studies have proven a link between periodontal (gum) disease and an increased risk for:

  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Certain cancers, including pancreatic cancer
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Complications in controlling blood sugar levels in diabetes
  • Premature birth
  • Low birth-weight babies

Periodontal disease often has no symptoms. That’s why a dental checkup every 6 months is so critical. Minor symptoms include:

  • Bleeding when brushing or flossing
  • Puffiness or tenderness of the gums
  • Halitosis (bad breath)
  • Loose-feeling teeth

Diagnostic Tool

Dr. Liss and his hygiene team use the Florida Probe System to measure pockets around the teeth to accurately diagnose gum disease. This system charts your results on a computer, so you can see the level of gum deterioration you have.

Gum Disease Treatment

If you are diagnosed with gum disease, don’t worry. Today’s therapies are much more advanced and comfortable than ever. Dr. Liss and his team use high-tech soft tissue diode lasers to gently remove any damaged or diseased gum tissue and kill any bacteria below the gum line as well as a Cavitron that uses laser energized water to comfortably remove any bacteria or calculus under the gum line and around the tooth root.
